What Does It Mean to Be a “Girl” at VIBE?

How Inclusive Strength Training Builds Safer Gyms

This is a question we get sometimes.

If VIBE is a gym for women, why do we also include trans women, trans folks, nonbinary people, and genderqueer members?

The answer is actually pretty simple.

When we say “girl” or “women’s gym,” we are not talking about policing identity. We are talking about creating a space away from the pressures that dominate traditional gym culture.

Most gyms were designed around cis male training culture. The programming, the environment, the expectations, even the social dynamics tend to center that experience.

For a lot of people, that environment does not feel safe, welcoming, or even workable.

So when we built VIBE, the goal was not to create a narrow definition of who belongs. The goal was to create a gym that centers people who have historically been pushed to the margins of fitness spaces.

That includes women.

It also includes trans women, trans folks, nonbinary people, and genderqueer people who want to train in a space that does not revolve around cis male energy.

It’s About the Environment

The culture of a gym changes dramatically depending on who the space is built for.

At VIBE you will notice things like:

  • People spotting each other without ego.

  • Coaches offering options instead of pushing through pain.

  • Members introducing themselves to new people.

  • People taking rest when they need it without feeling judged.

There is less performance.

There is more collaboration.

That shift in energy is intentional.

We want people to be able to focus on strength without feeling watched, compared, or out of place.

Strength Training Is Healthcare

Another reason this matters is that strength training is deeply important for long-term health.

For women and gender-diverse people, strength training supports:

  • Bone density

  • Muscle preservation as we age

  • Hormonal health

  • Metabolic health

  • Nervous system regulation

For a lot of people, the biggest barrier to strength training is not motivation. It is the environment.

If the space does not feel welcoming, people simply do not stay.

So we built a space where more people can actually access the benefits of strength training.

Who Belongs Here?

If you are someone who has felt uncomfortable or overlooked in traditional gyms…

If you want to train without the pressure of bro gym culture…

If you want thoughtful coaching and a supportive community…

You probably belong here.

VIBE is a gym centered around women and gender-diverse people who want to get stronger together.

The goal is not exclusion for the sake of exclusion.

The goal is creating an environment where people who are often pushed out of fitness spaces can finally feel like they belong.

And when people feel like they belong, they show up.

And when they show up, they get stronger.

If you’ve been watching from the outside and wondering if this space might be for you, the easiest way to find out is to come in.
