Four Years of VIBE: A Toast to Our Community

On April 25th, 2026, VIBE Gym and Wellness Collective celebrated its fourth anniversary with members, staff, wellness collective partners, and friends. This is the speech our fearless leader Meghan Nelson gave that night.

Ladies and Gentlethems, Friends and Family,

Welcome to our 4th Anniversary Celebration here at Vibe. It's a genuine pleasure to see so many familiar faces, and to celebrate not just the passing of time, but the growing community we've built together in this incredible space.

Four years ago, we opened our doors with a mission: to create a welcoming, empowering environment specifically for women, genderqueer, and trans individuals. Our vision was to foster a community where everyone could come together to pursue their fitness goals, support each other, and embrace the beautiful diversity of our experiences.

I thought I was opening a gym with a cool concept but in reality I opened a community center where we happen to work out together. We learn and grow together every single day.

As I look around this room tonight, I see evidence of that vision. A vibrant tapestry of people who have become more than just gym members. You've become friends, allies, and champions for one another. Together, we've forged relationships that extend beyond the gym, showing how powerful connection can be.

In these years, we've seen incredible growth. Not just in numbers but in the transformation of lives. Many of you have shared your journeys with us, and it's inspiring to see the determination, strength, and resilience that each of you embodies. You've pushed your limits, tackled challenges, and celebrated achievements big and small.

From birthdays to baby showers, protests and parties, but also miscarriages, lay offs and hard political changes. New pronouns, new goals, new vision of what we want the future to hold. Each sweat, each smile, high five and hug, every tear, and each word of encouragement adds to the empowering and supportive atmosphere at Vibe.

I want to take a moment to recognize our amazing staff and trainers. Your commitment, knowledge, and compassion have played a crucial role in creating a safe space for everyone. You don't just guide workouts and provide amazing services. You foster empowerment, confidence, and inclusivity. Thank you for your dedication and hard work. You make this place feel like home.

I also want to extend a special acknowledgment to our members who have been with us since day one. We have 24 members still going strong from DAY 1. To our newer members, we warmly welcome you and look forward to seeing all the wonderful moments you will create with us in the years ahead. It doesn't take long to feel like a regular at Vibe or like you've been here all along. That is something that makes us so special.

Every time I teach a class and when people finish, no matter how hard it was, they say thanks for class Meghan and smile. I don't take that for granted. People thank me for creating and maintaining Vibe. It is hard work for sure. But honestly I have to thank you all just as much. Vibe wouldn't be what it is without every single person who has touched it over the last 4 years.

I had the idea for Vibe in 2020 in the middle of Covid. Plenty of people criticized my idea and still do. But plenty of people encouraged me as well. The middle ground went something like, well Meghan if anyone can pull it off it's you, which feels a bit like a backhanded compliment but I'll take it. The dream has always been enough to keep me going. Now the proof is obvious. And the results make the fire burn bright.

In the last year, we have seen many queer, sapphic, women owned and small local businesses fold for many reasons. But we are standing strong and not going anywhere.

Over the past year we've introduced new programs and initiatives along with new wellness collective partners tailored to meet the diverse needs of our community. We aimed to not only focus on physical fitness but also mental wellness and the actual needs of our people, offering holistic approaches that resonate with all aspects of our lives.

In some ways it feels crazy that it could be 4 years already and in others it feels like so much longer. As an entrepreneur I've made mistakes and had some flops for sure, but the wins and growth have been priceless. As hard as it is to let go of that inner critic, I never promised to be perfect and perfection doesn't really fit our vibe anyway.

As we celebrate this milestone, let's also look to the future. We have exciting plans ahead: more classes, partnerships, and events that will continue to elevate our community in and outside of Vibe's walls. Some big announcements coming soon.

You can count on me to continue to learn, listen and provide the best possible experience at Vibe. You can trust me. I got you. No matter what, our goal remains steadfast: to ensure that everyone who walks through these doors feels empowered to pursue their health and wellness journeys authentically.

Before I conclude, let's take a moment to remember why we all started this journey. It wasn't just about lifting weights or achieving fitness milestones. It was about building a community where everyone belongs. A place where we can all thrive together, where every person is supported, encouraged, and celebrated for who they are.

Rooted in our core values of safety, community, love, and strength. Four things I truly believe every single human deserves.

You've all given me the opportunity to dream big. So I've passed that on to you. I always say my favorite thing about coaching is watching people really realize what they are actually capable of. They get a taste of their true potential and that is so much more than how much you back squat.

Together we all get to dream big and that is a really big deal. Let's continue to uplift one another, cheer each other on, and strive for a future where everyone feels strong in body, mind, and spirit.

Here's to the next four years and beyond, filled with safety, love, community, and strength.
