This Is What Community Looks Like

The People’s Protest + F*CK ICE Classes at VIBE

Pink flyer for "The People's Protest" on Feb 15, 12-3 PM, at Capitol Building, Denver. Text: An educational protest for community empowerment.

Do you ever feel kind of helpless watching everything happening right now?

Like you care so much.

You want to help.

You want to show up.

You just don’t know where to start.

I’ve been hearing that from people over and over lately.

I’ve gone to rallies.

I’ve gone to protests.

I’ve stood in big crowds chanting with everyone else.

And there’s something really beautiful about that. Being together. Feeling less alone. Feeling validated.

But what I keep noticing is that people leave and still feel stuck.

Like… okay. Now what?

What do I actually do tomorrow?

And honestly, it reminds me so much of how people talk about fitness.

They want to get stronger.

They know it matters.

They just don’t know what steps actually work for them.

There’s so much information. So much noise. And it’s hard to know what’s real or useful.

So we decided to make it simpler.

The People’s Protest isn’t just a rally.

It’s an educational gathering.

A resource day.

A place to come together and actually learn what you can do next.

You show up.

You meet people.

You leave with real tools in your hands.

Things that will make it easier to take action in your everyday life:

  • Melat Kiros for Congress on-site schooling us on voter registration, education and November ballot info.

  • Know your rights training if ICE is in your neighborhood.

  • Help calling your senator with scripts and support.

  • A protest sign craft station sponsored by The Center on Colfax.

  • A live art raffle benefiting the Immigrant Freedom Fund featuring Jess Voss and Nikki Plante.

  • DJ Cyn spinning all afternoon.

  • Good Bones Coffee of the viral F*CK ICE lattes serving up drip coffee.

  • And of course, some joyful movement with us at VIBE, including the ICE fitness challenge and Zumba.

Plus whistles, info cards, magnets, stickers, and resources you can literally take home with you.

It’s education.

It’s action.

It’s music and art and movement.

It’s community.

It feels like a VIBE.

And for me, this isn’t separate from what we do inside the gym.

It’s the same work.

Strength isn’t just physical:

  • Strength is feeling informed.

  • Feeling connected.

  • Feeling like you’re not alone.

  • Feeling like you actually can make a difference.

That’s also why we started our F*CK ICE fitness classes.

So far, we’ve raised over $3,000 for the Immigrant Freedom Fund of Colorado together just by moving our bodies and putting that energy toward something that matters.

It’s been one of the most meaningful things we’ve done as a community.

The next F*CK ICE fitness class is February 14.

Then the People’s Protest is February 15, from 12 to 3 at the Capitol.

If you’ve been wanting to get involved but didn’t know how… this is for you.

Just come.

Bring a friend.

Bring your questions.

Bring yourself.

We’ll take care of the rest.

Because we don’t do this alone.

We do this together.

That’s what VIBE is about.
